Get Back Up!

Everyone knows I love a good Rocky movie! One of my favorite lines comes from “Rocky Balboa” when he tells his son:

“You, me, or nobody is gonna hit as hard as life. But it ain't about how hard you hit. It's about how hard you can get hit and keep moving forward; how much you can take and keep moving forward. That's how winning is done!”

Today, these words ring true for every man who has fallen down or taken a hit in life. You may get knocked down—but you need to get back up.

Here’s a couple of suggestions to help you:

First, tell a godly man you trust (a reliable person, not the church gossip) about your struggle and decision to get back up. It will help you to speak it, and he’ll hold you accountable. When you struggle, he’ll be there cheering for you.

Second, develop a game plan to help you avoid getting knocked back down. For more in-depth help, buy and read Mantour Ministries' book, “Whatever It Takes.” This book is ridiculously practical. It gives you a game plan for how to keep your commitment. That’s why we wrote it—so that you have something to take home and help you endure the fight.

Finally, remember that I believe you can do it. I am in your corner. Like Rocky, I am standing in your corner, saying, “Get up, Kid!” I know you have everything you need to rise. I believe you have the strength and endurance to start again. It is time to kick off those sheets and get back up. Do it today.

Memory Verse:  Blessed is the one who perseveres under trial because, having stood the test, that person will receive the crown of life that the Lord has promised to those who love him. (James 1:12, NIV)
