The Holy Spirit Shows Us Truth
One of the phrases I hate most in our modern world is “my truth.” Personally, I think it should be a banned phrase, but instead, it’s everywhere.
People say, “I know my truth” or “I speak my truth.”
According to them, women have a different truth than men, and minorities have their own truth.
But here’s the thing—there’s no such thing as “my truth” or “your truth.” There’s just Biblical truth. One of the ways the Holy Spirit works in the life of believers is to guide them into God’s truth—Biblical truth.
As John 16:13 says, “But when He, the Spirit of Truth, comes, he will guide you into all truth.” (NIV)
The Holy Spirit wants to play this role in the life of every believer.
We live in a world where it is hard to know what is true and what is false. Deception runs rampant in families, society, and sometimes even the church. How can a Christian know what is true and what is a lie? By relying on the Holy Spirit.
One way the Holy Spirit leads us into truth is by giving us the gift of discernment. Using this spiritual gift, we can judge right from wrong, truth from lies, and the things of God versus cheap imitations.
Another common way that the Holy Spirit leads us into truth is by helping us understand the Bible better and see how it applies to our lives. As we study the teaching of Jesus, the Holy Spirit gives us insight into their meaning.
Whenever we open our Bibles, the Holy Spirit is there, ready and waiting to help us see God’s truth.
Speaking through God’s Word, the Holy Spirit can help believers separate truth from lies and walk in truth in a crazy, mixed-up world. He can help us be legendary men of God who live and function not in “our truth” but in “God’s truth.”
Weekly Memory Verse:
But when He, the Spirit of Truth, comes, he will guide you into all truth. (John 16:13, NIV)
