Week 4—Your Mission
Most of us are familiar with the infamous line from the Mission Impossible movies, “This is your mission, should you choose to accept it.”
Just like Ethan Hawk, each of us has a mission. The only difference is our mission from Jesus is not optional. It’s a command we either obey or disobey. He said:
Make disciples.
Win the lost.
Teach/Mentor them in My ways.
This is called the Great Commission.
This is our calling. It is time we rise and answer the call. We must take Jesus’ words seriously and put them in action! It is critical. It is urgent. We MUST do it.
Unfortunately, too many of God’s men are under the false impression that the Great Commission is the Great Option. We act as if we have the same choice given to Ethan Hunt—to accept or reject the mission.
Part of choosing to rise and shine includes realizing that the Great Commission isn’t optional. Jesus wasn’t just talking to the disciples standing right in front of Him. No, He was speaking to everyone who would ever call themselves His followers—Christians. Just as He was telling the men He was speaking to that their mission in life was to spread the Gospel, make disciples, and advance the kingdom of God, the Great Commission was meant to give each of us a purpose. We are to be witnesses, letting everyone in our sphere of influence know about God’s love, His salvation, and the hope that is available for their lives.
Just like the disciples changed their world, you can make a difference in the lives of people in your world. It’s your mission. Today is the day to accept it.
Memory Verse: He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation. Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned.” (Mark 16:15-16)
