Let's Talk About Sex
Another area where the theology of progressive Christianity is lying to the church has to do with sex and sexuality.
The Bible is very clear when it comes to the topic of sex and marriage, and it is different than today's cultural norms. The Bible is clear; sex is for the marriage bed between a husband and wife. This is how God ordained sex to be. NOTHING else is permitted under God’s Word.
Quite the contrary. The Bible is explicit and clear. Homosexuality is a sin. Living together before marriage is a sin. We are not to have sex before we get married. We are not to sleep with anyone other than our spouse after marriage. It really is simple. You meet a girl, get married, and then have sex...in that order. Any other order or arrangement is a sin before God and must be repented off.
The good news is, there is forgiveness for this sin. If you have had sex before marriage, if you have engaged in homosexual practices, if you have been unfaithful, God will forgive you. There will still be consequences for these actions, but forgiveness is yours if you repent and turn away from your sin and stop.
I know of people who had been living together before they were saved. After accepting Christ, they realized that they were sinning against God, so they moved out and got their own place until their wedding. I know of people living a homosexual lifestyle, but they came to Christ, became Christians, and left this lifestyle behind because they discovered it was sin.
However, one problem in today’s church, is too many people call themselves “Christians,” repent of their sin, but not changing their lifestyle to stop sinning. They reject the truth that the Bible is still relevant today, and believe the lie of progressive Christianity that the Bible is no longer applicable in today’s society. However, this isn’t true.
No matter what the world says or what attacks they lay at our feet, God's Word is clear when it comes to the place for sex. When it comes to the truths of sex for a man of God, we need to stand firm and shine bright in a dark world.
Memory Verse: Or do you not know that wrongdoers will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor men who have sex with men nor thieves nor the greedy nor drunkards nor slanderers nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God. (1 Corinthians 6:9-10, NIV)
