Sword of the Spirit

What did Jesus do when the enemy tried to get Him to sin? He fought back using God’s Word. (Matthew 4:1-4). Jesus could use the Word of God as a weapon because Jesus knew what the Word of God said.

One of the biggest reasons modern-day Christians aren’t living as victorious Christians, but falling prey to the enemy’s attacks, is that there is an epidemic of Biblical illiteracy. Too many Christians don’t read the Bible, so they don’t know what it says. If you aren’t reading the Bible and hiding God’s Word in your heart, you won’t be able to use it as a weapon when the enemy attacks. Instead, when the enemy attacks, you’ll go to pull out your spiritual gun and find that you have no ammunition.

If we want to live as victorious Christians and overcome the attacks of our spiritual enemy, we’ll have to do what Jesus did. We need to make Bible reading, study, and memorization a priority in our lives.

If we want to follow Jesus’ example and walk in His steps in spiritual warfare, we’ve got to start by following His example by hiding God’s Word in our hearts.

We need to use the Word of God as a sword to tear down the devil’s evil schemes. Hebrews 4:12 says, “For the Word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.” (NIV)

Guys, it’s time to get dressed!!!

Memory Verse: “For the Word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.” (Hebrews 4:12, NIV)
