You Have A Calling
I love our military men, and I am so grateful to every man and woman who enlists to defend this great country of ours. These mighty warriors voluntarily give up their personal rights to direct their own life to join the armed services community.
It’s their choice to join the armed services, but after that, the armed services make most of the choices for them. They tell them where they want them to go. They decide where a soldier lives. They choose a soldier’s job and determine their rank.
Members of the armed services adopt their branch’s code of conduct. They follow their rules and regulations. When they disobey, they accept the discipline.
A soldier doesn’t get to decide whether or not they deploy or when they return home. They are sent on a mission and they are expected to obey. Because they believe in the cause and want to serve their country, they submit to this lifestyle.
It’s the same way when you surrender your life to God. You agree to live by His standards, follow His rules, and fulfill the role that He has for you in life. You are no longer the master of your own ship, but you are now committed to following the leading of the Holy Spirit in your life. Along with all of the benefits that come with the privilege of being a part of God’s family, there is also the responsibility of fulfilling the unique role He designed for you to play in His kingdom. This is your ultimate purpose in life.
Here’s a radical challenge: We were not born so that we could simply earn enough money to survive, live out our days in monotony, or experience as much pleasure as possible. Instead, God has a unique purpose just for you. He has a place that He wants you to fill.
His plan for your life doesn’t just involve you, but instead, it involves the lives of every person that He wants you to reach and influence for the kingdom of God. Extending the circle even further, God’s plan involves the people their lives will reach, and on and on it goes.
The truth is that God’s plan for your individual life is so much bigger than you can ever imagine or may even comprehend in your lifetime. It is part of His eternal plan to bring as many people as possible into a personal relationship with Him so that they can spend eternity with Him. It’s how you fulfill the Great Commission.
Memory Verse: And he died for all, that those who live should no longer live for themselves but for him who died for them and was raised again.—2 Corinthians 5:15
